Questions about this car

How long is the registration valid?

A private car’s registration is valid for 15 years from first registration; the exact date is printed on the RC. After that it can be renewed for 5 years at a time.

Does this car need a fitness certificate (FC)?

Not at the moment. Private (white-board) cars need a fitness certificate only when the registration is renewed after 15 years. Commercial yellow-board vehicles have separate, regular fitness checks.

How is the ownership transferred to me?

The seller and buyer sign Form 29 and Form 30, which are filed at the RTO with the RC, valid insurance, a valid PUC certificate and the buyer’s ID and address proof. Quality Cars helps prepare and file the paperwork, and you can follow each stage on the Document Tracker. The time taken depends on the RTO, so ask us for the current timeline when you buy.

What if the car still has a loan on it?

If a loan (hypothecation) is recorded on the RC, the lender’s NOC and Form 35 are used to remove it before or with the transfer. Ask us to confirm this car’s status from the RC before you buy.

What happens to the insurance?

After the ownership transfer the policy must be moved into your name, so that claims stay valid; we can help. The previous owner’s No Claim Bonus does not pass to you; it stays with them.

The car is registered in another state. Is that a problem?

Cars registered outside Karnataka need an NOC from the original RTO and Karnataka road tax before they can be re-registered here. Ask us whether a car needs this, and what it costs.

Is the price negotiable?

We share the price and our best offer on request. Tap “Request best price” or message us on WhatsApp.

What will I receive at delivery?

The RC (or the RTO transfer acknowledgement while the new RC is issued), insurance in your name, a PUC certificate. Check everything against the car report at delivery.

What do I need for a test drive?

A valid driving licence. Drive the car at the showroom, book a live video walkaround, or request a home test drive, which is subject to availability.
